The best shipping apps for Shopify

There are shipping apps that…

  • Let you manage all of your orders from many different marketplaces from one dashboard
  • Save you money on shipping (who wouldn’t want this?)
  • Give your customers the ability to track their packages in real time.
  • Intelligently set the shipping rates for each product.
  • Lastly, make shipping slips.

We have a lot to talk about, so let’s get going and find the best shipping app for Shopify!

All-in-one Order Management

If having a million tabs open in Google Chrome makes you want to pull out your hair, an all-in-one order management tool will be your best friend.

The point of this kind of tool is to keep most of your ecommerce or dropshipping business in one dashboard.

The Executive Summary:

  • ShipStation is the most popular choice and a great place for small businesses to start.
  • ShipWorks is best for people who work best as part of a team.
  • Shippo is the best choice for beginners because it lets you pay as you go.
  • EasyShip is great for dropshippers and others who need a full order fulfillment service.

ShipStation

ShipStation really stands out because they have so many integrations. You could connect to HUNDREDS of different shopping carts, marketplaces, and services.

ShipStation is a great choice if part of your marketing plan is to list your products on different websites like Shopify, eBay, Amazon, Etsy, and Jet.

Most entrepreneurs find it stressful and boring to keep track of their income, expenses, and refunds. The way this product works with accounting software like Quickbooks could make your life easier.

Since ShipStation is an all-in-one solution, you can print shipping labels right from your dashboard.

Usually, you can save anywhere from 5% to 40% on labels, depending on how you ship. It looks like you could save 66% on DHL labels if you used this platform. In their blog post about carrier discounts, you can learn more about how they give discounts.

  • Customers in the US can print labels for the four most common carriers, which are USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL.
  • FedEx is the only option for people in Canada.
  • Customers in the UK can use Hermes, DPD, or Parcelforce to send packages.
  • Sendle gives Australians a free premium account to make shipping in Australia a little less of a hassle.

The next great thing about this product is that it can be automated. After a short setup process, all of your printouts, including packing slips, invoices, and emails, can include your custom branding.

ShipStation has proper inventory management, which is a must-have for an all-in-one order management suite.

The way they set prices has six tiers. It starts at $9 per month and goes up to $159 per month for the business plan.

The main thing I don’t like about the prices is that you have to pay at least $49 to get support for multiple users and live chat.

I also wish they had a phone number where premium customers could call for help right away. When there is a problem with order fulfillment, you want to fix it as soon as possible.

ShipWorks

I would have to say that ShipWorks is ShipStation’s biggest rival. They’re made for the same people and are very similar.

We’ll start by talking about the integrations you can use.

They have a little less than 100 at the moment. Even though that’s as much as ShipStation’s database of hundreds, it’s probably more than enough for your business.

As someone who likes to write code, I was glad to see that ShipWorks promoted their API as a feature. Simply put, an API lets a developer “build their own integrations.”

Suppose I made an app from scratch and wanted to add ShipWorks to it. With an API, I’ll be able to track all of my app-made orders right inside of ShipWorks.

ShipWorks vs. ShipStation

One of the best things about ShipWorks is that they offer support via phone, email, and chat on all of their plans. The biggest problem I’ve heard about ShipStation is that when people have a problem, they can’t get help right away.

ShipWorks cares a lot more about this part of their business than other parts.

With ShipWorks, the discounts on shipping seem to be a little bit less, but they are still pretty close.

You can set up action-based automation rules for different parts of your order fulfillment process with both products. Both solutions make it easy to do things like add a new customer to your email marketing list or print out a shipping label.

When it comes to prices, ShipWorks’ cheapest plan gives you more for your money. Even though it starts at $25, you can send 600 packages each month, which is more than ShipStation’s $29 tier, which only lets you send 500 packages.

Also, ShipWorks lets you have as many users as you want on any plan.

In conclusion, choose ShipWorks if you want to add your whole team at an affordable price and get help right away. ShipStation, on the other hand, is a solution that is cheaper for solopreneurs, has better shipping rates, and works with more services.

Shippo

I love that Shippo has a pay-as-you-go option in addition to the traditional fixed-tier pricing.

Why does this matter? If you’re using your own money to start your first e-commerce business, you might not make any sales at all in the first month.

With a fixed-tier pricing model, you only have to pay five cents per order plus the cost of shipping.

Thats important!

In addition to the usual shipping label creation, integrations, and automation rules we’ve seen in other products, you can also let your customers track their packages in real time.

Shippo works with LOTS of different carriers from all over the world. You can see all of them on the page for their carriers.

EasyShip

EasyShip is the last app I will talk about in this category.

This is the product I would recommend to dropshippers in particular. It’s also a big hit with many Kickstarter projects that want to focus on making their products instead of dealing with an unknown number of shipments.

Since it’s an all-in-one solution, you’ll get everything, even the kitchen sink. You’ll be able to keep track of all your orders in one spot, print labels, and set up smart automations.

But you also get the advantages of a full order fulfillment service.

That’s so cool! They have many warehouses in different places around the world. They’ll go through the trouble of sending your products to customers.

This means that you can run a business that sells physical goods (and ships them quickly!) from anywhere in the world. From what we know, this is one of the best Shopify fulfillment apps you can get.

Shopify Shipping Apps That Save Money

Hubspot’s survey shows that high shipping costs are the main reason why 28% of shoppers abandon their carts. This is the most common reason for shoppers to abandon their carts.

This is why getting the cheapest shipping rates is so important to us. If we can get our prices low enough, it might be easier to offer free shipping to our customers.

In this section, we’ll talk about a few apps that can help you save money on your next order of shipping labels.

The Executive Summary:

  • ShipNerd: This service is the one I recommend the most! It’s a great product with helpful customer service and great savings.
  • PirateShip: This is a good option for people who send a lot of packages through the USPS.
  • netparcel: This service is good for people who send a lot of packages.

ShipNerd

ShipNerd is like the “cheap flight finder” of shipping apps for Shopify.

First, you choose how fast you want your package to arrive: “fast,” “faster,” “fastest,” or “hyper-speed.”

Then, they show you the cheapest prices they have, and you can easily print your new label.

It’s easy to do and doesn’t cost anything every month.

PirateShip

ShipNerd and PirateShip are similar, but PirateShip is only for USPS. Because of this, PirateShip may have better USPS rates than ShipNerd.

netParcel

Like ShipNerd, netParcel offers cheap shipping for many different parcel delivery services.

One thing that makes netParcel different from ShipNerd is that their prices are mostly based on the size of your package, not on how quickly they deliver it.

“Less than a truckload” (LTL) shipments are also something they do well. This is a great feature if you sell your products in bulk or need to send fairly large shipments to fulfillment centers.

netParcel also says that customers can save up to 70% on shipping costs by using their service. Just because of that, it’s worth a try!

Your customers can get shipping information in real time

Having an easy-to-use shipment tracker is a good way for us to cut down on those annoying “Where is my shipment?” questions.” Dropshippers know what I’m talking about when I say “emails.”

In this section, we will talk about the best two options.

The Bottom Line:

  • Aftership: This product is less expensive to start with.
  • Tracktor: Shopify works well with this product. But for most people’s needs, it gets a bit pricey.

AfterShip

AfterShip is a very popular way to track packages.

Those of us who don’t get more than 100 orders a month can use it for free. But the free plan doesn’t let you know when someone is tracking you.

This solution is really unique because it gives customers an easy-to-use interface for tracking packages, and it also lets you look at analytical data about your shipments.

You’ll be able to go to the AfterShip dashboard, use all kinds of filters like a mad scientist, and get data to back up all kinds of business decisions.

Do you know which countries you buy from the most and how much you spend on postage in each of them? How fast are your deliveries on average from one month to the next? AfterShip will be able to help you with that.

You can even link your Google Analytics account to your AfterShip account to learn more.

Tracktor

I like that Tracktor is completely run by Shopify, which is why it is our second choice. You don’t have to worry about signing into another website.

If you don’t get more than five orders a month, it’s free.

When you reach 50 orders per month, it costs $15 per month. You can also check the status of an order as many times as you want with this tier.

If you pay $30 a month, you can change the way the map looks a little bit more. It also lets you take care of up to 100 orders per month and send email notifications to customers.

At the last level, which costs $99 per month, you can handle as many orders as you want. It also has a feature called “premium data sources” that isn’t explained. It probably gives you more up-to-date information about the status of your shipments.

Calculators for Shipping Rates

These apps will help you figure out a fair price for shipping.

The Bottom Line:

  • Most people should choose Advanced Shipping Rules.
  • Boxify uses the shape of your box to figure out how much it will cost to ship.
  • Intuitive Shipping is a unique pricing algorithm that can be used instead of Advanced Shipping Rules.

Rules for Ships in the Future

Shopify sellers have loved the A.S.R. app for a long time.

It costs as little as $9 per month and as much as $99 per month.

This app is for companies that offer shipping prices that change based on a number of factors.

You can set different prices based on the vendor you’re sending from, the item’s weight, the buyer’s location, whether you’re delivering locally or not, the size of the item, and more. As you can see, it can be used in many ways.

In addition to all of the settings for automatic pricing, you could also set shipping rates for each product individually or put products into different rate groups.

Boxify

Boxify is a cool little app that makes shipping costs easy to figure out.

Most of the time, sellers set the shipping price to a made-up number so they can predict how much shipping will cost.

But here’s the problem: When shipping costs are high, people are less likely to buy from you.

Boxify comes in at this point. It takes into account the size, weight, and number of items you are shipping so that you can give your customers an accurate price for shipping.

It starts at $19 per month and goes up to $99 per month.

Shipping Made Easy

Advanced Shipping Rules is a lot like Intuitive Shipping. All of its features cost $30 per month, which is a very simple way to price it.

It stands out from Advanced Shipping Rules because of its “Smart Boxing” feature, which calculates shipping costs accurately, and its wholesale pricing.

If you sell your products to wholesalers, you can charge them different shipping prices, which will help you make more money on large orders.

Fulfillment App Slip Generators

Whether it’s a packing slip, a thank-you note, or an ad for another product, many sellers like to include printable notes with their packages.

In this last part, we’ll talk about two of the best apps for printing these kinds of files.

Order Printer

Shopify made Order Printer, which has a very small number of features.

You can also print invoices, labels, and even custom documents, in addition to packing slips and receipts.

There are some basic templates included, but to make your own, you (or your developer) will need to know how to work with HTML.

This plugin does what it’s supposed to do, but the app store only gives it 3.8 stars.

The bad reviews were all different. A lot of them came from people who use Macs and like the Safari web browser. For the best experience with this app, you should use either Google Chrome or Firefox.

Some other reviewers didn’t like that you had to change templates with HTML and wished there was an easier way.

Well, editing our templates doesn’t have to be so hard. Now we can talk about our next app.

Order Printer Templates

Order Printer Templates is the last thing on our list.

It’s a cute little app that can do quite a few things. It has a great score of 4.9 stars!

This app’s goal is to make templates that can be used with Shopify’s Order Printer or Order Printer Emailer, which is an app for sending emails to customers.

It makes it much easier to make templates and doesn’t require you to know HTML. Are you looking for a new app that does everything for you and has a lot of power? You might be a good fit for ShipBob. Read here to find out what we think.
