What is a “free plus shipping” deal?

It’s a way to sell something where you give the item away for free and just ask the buyer to pay for shipping. Then, you just find a product that is cheap enough that the shipping fee you charge will cover the cost of the item plus the cost of shipping it to you. So why would you want to give something away for free that, after they pay the shipping fee, lets you break even?

Because of two big things:

  • It can be hard to get people to buy from a new online store, so offering a great deal is a great way to get people to try you out. People love deals that include free shipping.
  • It’s easier to sell to someone again after they’ve bought from you once, so now that you have so many new customers, you have a much better chance of selling to them again.

  • Find the product page for the item you want to sell on AliExpress.com.
  • Click the Dropship Corporation App Chrome Extension
  • Then, in the Product Window that opens, change the product details and set the price to $0.
  • Then click the “Send to Shopify” button, and you’re done. Your store now has a “Free” offer.

In this case, as shown in the video above, if you wanted to at least break even on your costs, you would set your shipping cost at a minimum of $7.77, which is the cost of the item on AliExpress ($6.29) plus the cost of ePacket shipping ($1.48). But you could also charge $7.99 or even $8.99 for shipping, which would let you make some money or pay for any paid traffic you’re getting. Again, the point of this item is to bring in new customers so you can sell them more things, not to make money.

Now, you may also want to have a version of your product with a retail price. If that’s the case, all you have to do is close the Product box you just opened and click the Dropship Corporation extension again.

You’ll see the changes you made to the offer. This time, you should add a Retail value.

Then click the “Send to Shopify” button, and you’re done. You now have a Retail version of that product as well.
